5 Compelling Reasons to Run Your Own Home-Based Business

Author: Donald Aleksy

What would make you take on additional responsibilities after coming home from your J.O.B.? Or even completely step out of corporate America to work from home?

Some people are motivated by money, while others are looking for more security, less hours or even no boss. But what are the five major reasons you should consider starting a business from home?

Reason # 1

Personal - Working on your own business increases your sense of pride and self-confidence. You are, after all, working on something that is all yours!

You will have new experiences and new accomplishments that you wouldn't otherwise have when you work for someone else. You make new friends and learn new skills. You are your own boss.

Reason # 2

Job Security - The biggest economic advantage to owning your own business is job security. Today there is no such thing as job security in corporate America. Companies are finding it more difficult to compete, and employees are taking the hit in their pocketbooks.

With your own business, you are in charge. You make the decisions. You are the boss. You can't be fired, laid off or downsized. Your success is in your hands!

Reason # 3

Financial - Although it may appear the same as Reason #2, it is very different. This isn't job security - this is about more money in your pocket. Whether it's a supplemental income or replacement income, this reason is all about the money.

Home-based businesses can give you more control over your income, so you have more money for extra vacations, earlier retirement, a few more luxuries or even replace your current J.O.B. You are only limited by your drive and ambition.

Reason # 4

Health - Today's health insurance policies are getting stricter and more expensive. The reason behind the insurance industries "crack down" is that more Americans are suffering from stress-related illnesses such as Reflux, Migraines, Obesity, Heart Disease and Stroke. Insurance companies are taking the financial hit and passing it along to their customer.

You can decrease your stress related illnesses by putting the control back in your own hands. You control your success. Yes there will be stress and possibly an increased work load in the beginning but you won't be looking over your shoulder. You won't be worried about how someone else might be sabotaging your efforts. You are in control.

Reason # 5

Taxes - The tax man cometh and he taketh away! Home businesses are a wonderful shelter for the extra income you are making. All of a sudden your computer, work area, storage space (garage or extra room), travel expenses, education, and phone lines can become tax deductible.

Note: Always consult a tax accountant who has worked with home-based businesses. The tax laws change each year.

These five reasons should inspire you to start your own home-based business that meets your needs. You hold your future in your hands. You have the ability to improve your personal life, your job security, your finances, your health and decrease your taxes.
