Glyconutrients - The Next Household Word?

Author: Jason Carriere

Glyconutrients are considered by top doctors and scientists as the most important discovery in recent medical history relating to human health and wellness. Glyconutrients, a grouping of eight 'biological' sugars, are found in one nutrient complex called Ambrotose. They are not vitamins, minerals, herbals, homeopathics or enzymes. They are a class all to themselves. Glyconutrient essentially means 'sweet nutrient.' They are supplements derived from nature that have been formulated based on a new understanding in biochemistry of how our bodies maintain health at the cellular level. This new discovery is as significant as the discovery of the role of vitamins, essential fatty acids, and amino acids in how the body functions.

Glyconutrients are digested by the body and provide the sugars and other glycoforms such as lipids and proteins that enable proper cell-to-cell communication, a process essential for proper human body functioning and defense through the immune system. Glyconutrients form an essential part of nutrition required by our body, however, are inadequate in a majority of the foods we consume.

Studies have found that glyconutrients have the ability to ease the pains brought on by inflammation. They also play a major role in the basic functionings of the human body. Glyconutrients feed the mechanism through which every cell of the human body recognizes and communicates with other cells. When glyconutrients are used with chemotherapy, surgery or radiation it has been observed that they help in lessening the side effects of these treatments. Glyconutrients also help the body to recover and heal more quickly if used along with these treatments.

Studies have shown that eight simple dietary sugars are lacking in a modern standard diet. These eight dietary sugars are vital for the basic functioning of our body. The sugars join with fats and proteins in order to create glycoforms that coat the surface of nearly all cells in our body. Glycoforms work as cellular identification molecules, which communicate the messages of our bodily needs and are the basis for the functioning of maintaining good health.

Sugars that have been found in glyconutrients deal with the functioning of the brain and the nervous system of the body. They also help the body to handle cholesterol and fats, present in all people, by lowering the triglycerides and lipoproteins also known as LLP and raising the good cholesterol known as HDL.

The lack of these essential sugars in our modern day standard diet has been attributed to many factors. An increase in the level of pollution combined with the declining nutritional value of our soil and eating habits has led to a decline in these sugar levels. Taking glyconutrient supplements in our diet is the only answer to provide our body with this essential, possibly missing nutrient.

As important as they are, 99% of the world has never heard the term glyconutrients before. But on October 15, 2005, this word will enter the public consciousness and lexicon. Los Angeles, California, will host the first World Wide AIDS Concert to raise money to supply glyconutrients for children in Africa with AIDS.

U2 and the Dave Matthews Band will be the performers in this televised concert. Other concerts will follow at impressive locations around the world, including the Great Wall of China.
