Author: Jason Montag

The purpose of this article is to improve the publics knowledge about dogs, the Irish Setter in particular. Many people decide that they want a dog based off of appearance alone. While this may not be a terrible thing to do if the person has the ability to accommodate all types of dogs, for some individuals the care for specific types of dog breeds is not possible. The best way to avoid any surprises after the adopting or purchase of a dog is to understand the breed and what it takes to care for it. We will go over some of the basic characteristics of the Irish Setter to help you get a better understanding of the Irish Setter as a breed and possibly a new addition to your family.

Standing at about 25 inches tall and weighing in at about 65 lbs, this silky coated ultra friendly companion is a handful but, a pleasure. The Irish Setter is not a big eater but it can definitely burn up the calories. They require and enjoy a high amount of exercise, and are especially fond of the shooting field activities. This breed takes to training pretty well but requires a firm master to ease the wildness in their heart. Like the Irish Setter, the Irish Setter is a fantastic family dog full of kind loyal intentions.

We hope that we have assisted you I your quest for knowledge and understanding of the Irish Setter. Please look below for some additional resources.
