Barbecue Grills

Author: Richard Romando

There has been some debate over which type of barbecue grill is better, gas or charcoal. Out of all the grills available for consumer use, the charcoal grill is the least expensive. This type of grill has at least four advantages over gas grills. Charcoal grills cook hotter than gas grills, and you can burn wood in the charcoal pit giving more flavor to the meat.

There are also some disadvantages. Charcoal grills are messy and require more work than a gas grill. They are also less predictable, and require that you pay more attention than you would for a gas grill. Another disadvantage is charcoal grills lose heat over time, requiring you to regularly stoke the flame. With a gas grill, the flame remains constant until you decide to turn it off. Professional pit masters prefer the use of charcoal grills to gas grills. However, over 68% of American grill owners prefer to use gas.

If you are in the market looking for a charcoal grill there are some things you need to look for to make sure you get a high quality product. Make sure you buy a product with a tightly fitting dome, so you can do indirect grilling. You should also look for a grill with air vents on both top and bottom to allow you to adjust the airflow and the heat. The most important thing you need to look for is to make sure you buy a grill with a sturdy construction and an optional side table. This will prevent the grill from tipping while you are grilling, causing the charcoal to spill and possibly cause a fire.
